Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo Sportfishing Report

July 2004

This report from Gitana Charters, Mar y Tierra Sportfishing and Whisky Water World

The Sailfish are approaching record numbers for this month.  Most boats are raising double digits every day.  Conventional tackle skippers are tagging up to 5 per day and fly fishing anglers are tagging 3-4 fish per day.  5ch.

Sailfish are 1-12 off miles of the beach. The better captains are getting over 10 strikes per day .  Santiago on the Gitana tagged over 50 between Apr. 15 and Jun. 15.

An occasional Marlin is being taken at 1 to 5 miles off the beach, Blues and Blacks averaging 150-250 pounds.

The Roosterfish continue to cruise the beach but the Jack Crevalle are beating them to the lures and baits as the Roosters are being fussy in the clear water..
