The Zihuatanejo Fleet

The sportfishing fleet in Zihuatanejo is a mixture of the old and the new.  There are craft available for all budgets and offering various degrees of comfort from 25' Super Pangas to Luxury Yachts. A fairly newly discovered fishing area or a well kept sportfishing secret for many years. Lack of sportfishing pressure affords anglers to have the resource to themselves and an opportunity to re-write the angling history of this destination. Fishing normally within 5 - 15 miles of shore.

One of the newer owners in the area is Ed Garvis of Fullerton, CA.   Ed bought his first boat the panga "Whisky" from the Ixtapa Fleet.   Ed has add the 38' Sportfisher "Whisky II" to the Whisky fleet in 1999. The original panga is now "Whisky III".

Ed Kunze of Sea and Sand (Mar y Tierra) has been in the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area for several years.  Ed specializes in fly fishing and is an Orvis endorsed guide.  Ed also assists several captains with their booking of charters.
